COVID-19 Response

Our Response to COVID-19

During times of crisis, strong partnerships matter most. The current pandemic has changed much of what we do and how we do it. However, thanks to your generosity, the resourcefulness and courage of our partners in Madagascar, and the dedication of our United States based volunteers, we have continued to provide medical supplies and training to those who need it most. We have raised funds for:

• PPE for the staff of ONG St. Gabriel, personnel at the Ankirihiry CBS II clinic, and the volunteer doctors at AST
• hand washing kits, soap, masks, disinfectant, cooking oil, and rice to approximately 800 families in Analamalotra
• a hygiene instruction and supply project which included hiring literacy students to make masks
• monthly video calls between doctors and midwives in Toamasina and obstetricians in Cincinnati for training and Q&A
• teleconferences between doctors in Toamasina and infectious disease specialists in Cincinnati to share knowledge about COVID-19 and its spread in Madagascar.

This French language presentation was created by Dr. Huxley Miller to provide basic information about the COVID-19 disease. Covid19 French

Your donations are saving lives, and we are truly appreciative. Thank you!

A special thanks to the amazing Mme. Jeanette Nirina, project leader for the Model Healthy Villages, for leading the response in Analamalotra. She had her team ensured that critical supplies were distributed safely, and that residents had the information on the importance of masks and social-distancing that they needed to stay healthy. And, of course, she and her daughter modeled the importance of mask-wearing!

The literacy teachers brought COVID-19 prevention techniques to urban literacy centers, including installing supplies and teaching hand-washing instruction.

Adults and children receive instruction on wearing masks and social distancing.

Analamalotra residents receive clean water.

Our volunteer doctors continued to answer questions and provide information too.
